Commit Conversation: Drew Rempel
Matthew Dossett caught up with new commit, Drew Rempel!
The Middle Tennessee State football program has been on a roll as of late, especially in the month of June. Since June, the Blue Raiders have garnered commitments from: linebacker Joshua Echols, defensive back George Harris, tight end Ayden Ashlock, defensive back Tavares Ward, QB Hudson White, and wideout Drew Rempel.
We have been churning out commit conversations, and now we turn our attention to Drew Rempel. Rempel was a force on the field last season for Page. He had 415 receiving yards and 705 all-purpose yards, to go with five touchdowns.
Rempel pledged to the Blue Raiders Thursday, June 25. Rempel received his offer from Coach Derek Mason and company in late April.
Rempel said that he has been on campus a couple times, once as just a spectator, but also as a recruit on an official visit.
“Yes, I was able to catch a game last year and came for my OV this year,” Rempel said.
Rempel said that while visiting for his official visit earlier in the month, he made the rounds on campus, looking to see what MTSU had to offer.
“I was able to see all the new facilities which are incredible,” Rempel said.
“My favorite part was getting to see the new weight room, which was way better than any I’ve ever been in.”
Rempel said that he will play wideout for Lipscomb Academy and that MTSU sees him as a receiver at the next level.
When asked, Why MT, he said: “The whole MT staff recruited me very aggressively from day one. And it felt like somewhere I was really wanted and would continue to be developed.”
Despite being a new Blue Raider, Rempel has offers from a ton of different schools.
He has offers from: MTSU, Harvard, Davidson, Charlotte, TSU, Butler, UT-Martin, Samford, Penn, Dartmouth, Army, Air Force, EKU, ECU, Arkansas State, Memphis, and Murray State.
Rempel said that when it really boiled down to it, the final teams were MT and Charlotte. In the end, the last team left standing was MTSU.
He went on to mention that Coach Lowry recruited him, and they he liked what he saw from the outside receiver’s coach.
“Coach Lowry called and offered me, came to see me at a scrimmage and has done a great job recruiting me,” Rempel said.
“I’ve enjoyed my time with him and can’t wait to continue to work with him at MT!”
Rempel talked about the origins of his recruitment. He said that former Blue Raider, Jayden Satterfield, opened his eyes to Murfreesboro and MTSU.
“Jayden Satterfield is the first person who spoke to me from MT about a year ago. He got me on a game day visit and helped me initially learn about MT.”
Rempel went on to say that he pledged his commitment to multiple members of the staff and that they were revved and pumped up.
“I have a great relationship with the whole staff,” he said.
“I actually called four coaches to tell them. Coach Lowry was screaming. Coach Crowley said he wouldn’t be able to sleep that night, and Coach Mason wanted to get on FaceTime immediately to celebrate!”
