Commit Conversation: Hudson White
Hudson White earned an offer at camp, and quickly picked the Blue Raiders!
Recently Middle Tennessee State hosted camps for solidified prospects already with MT offers, yes, but also for guys trying to get on the radar of the coaching staff. One of those guys recently was Arkansas signal caller, Hudson White. White was a standout at a recent MT camp, which was June 19, and earned an offer from the Blue Raiders. Prior to that offer, White held an offer from North Alabama.
It did not take long for White to ultimately pull the trigger and pick the Blue Raiders, shortly after getting the offer. The six-foot-five, 210 pound QB committed on June 22.
White elaborated on how he earned the offer from the Blue Raiders in the camp setting.
“I love competing and loved the seven on seven portion of the camp,” White said.
“I think I impressed the coaching staff with some of my throws into tight windows to receivers that I had not thrown with before. I also broad jumped 10’1, which I think got their attention at the beginning of camp.”
Hudson said that he relished the offer from the Blue Raiders staff that was extended to him after the camp setting.
Hudson went into great detail, outlining how the offer from MT was given to him.
“After a tour of the facility, we ended in the offensive meeting room, working through play concepts on the big whiteboard and watching film,” White said.
“At the end of the classroom session, Coach Scelfo and Coach Ganz told me they were offering me a scholarship. We hugged and I instantly felt right at home.”
Obviously it did not take long for White to inform the coaching staff of his decision to become a Blue Raider.
White mentioned that shortly after camp it just hit him that he wanted to tell the coaches. “The next morning, driving home, getting to see all that Murfreesboro has to offer and how beautiful Tennessee is,” he said.
“I knew that this was where I wanted to be and I called Coach Scelfo and Ganz to tell them that I’m all in.”
“They were pumped and said that we are going to have a lot of fun.”
White said that he also informed head man, Coach Mason.
“Shortly afterwards Coach Mason FaceTimed me to welcome me to the family.”
White reiterated to me that there was a reason why he pledged to MTSU, so shortly after his offer from the Blue Raiders.
“Walking up to the stadium felt right,” White said.
“There was something about Coach Mason’s vibe that I really liked. Once the camp was over and I got to meet with Coach Scelfo and Ganz, I knew they were two men I wanted to learn from.”
While on campus for the camp, White got to see the facilities and the bells and whistles that MTSU had to offer.
“The film and meeting room were top-notch,” White said.
“This will allow me to learn and improve my game off the field. The new weight room and nutrition areas were exciting to see, knowing that I’ll be able to become my best inside and out.”
White went on the reveal what makes him a formidable quarterback.
“I feel a QB’s number one priority is to elevate the play of those around me,” White said.
“So, leadership and presence are what I feel describe me the most as a QB. Second would be my poise. I’m not afraid of third and long or pressure. My size and arm strength stand out, but I can also extend plays and run when necessary.”
White divulged that he is hearing from other programs, but there is a reason why he is locked in with Middle Tennessee State.
“Yes, I’m getting lots of interest from a number of schools,” he said.
White kept mentioning his takeaways from the staff at the camp.
“But the interactions with Coach Mason during camp were awesome. He is a high energy leader with tons of insight and experience with football.”
White also mentioned that he really enjoyed going into a film room setting was really cool and really beneficial.
“And getting to do a MT pass concept install on the whiteboard with Coach Scelfo and Coach Ganz was next level for me,” he said.
“It’s going to be fun shredding defenses with them.”
As a junior, White posted some gaudy and impressive statistics.
Last season he had 2,999 yards, to pair with 19 touchdowns.
He also chipped in with his legs, rushing for 201 yards.
White went on to say that he has lofty goals for his senior season of high school ball.
“My main goal for my senior year is to win a state championship,” White said.
“We haven’t made the playoffs since we moved up to a higher division, and I really want to help change that and win it all.”
He transitioned outlining what he needs to improve on in order to accomplish his goals.
“To get there, I’m working on a few things. I’ve been putting in more time breaking down film so I can learn opposing defenses better.”
“The more I know what they like to do before the snap, the better I can get use into the right plays and put points on the board.”
He continued saying, “On the field, I want to get better at staying calm in the pocket and making quicker decisions when things get pressured. I’m also working on my footwork and being more consistent with my accuracy.”
White also said he wants to set an example.
“As a leader, I want to be more vocal and make sure our team is staying focused and working hard every day. If I can keep improving in those areas, I think we’ll be in a good spot to make a real run this fall and do something special for the program.”
