Target Talk: DK Woods
Matt Dossett interviewed 2027 running back prospect DK Woods!
With new offensive coordinator Anthony Scelfo at the helm for the MTSU offense, expect a balanced attack, with the offense passing the rock, but also sticking to the running game. One running back in the crosshairs for the Blue Raiders is DK Woods, a prospect who plays tailback and linebacker for his high school in Crockett County.
He told me last season he had 165 caries for 1,690 yards, to go with 31 touchdowns. He also said he averaged 10.2 yards a carry and accumulated 1,731 all-purpose yards.
The Blue Raiders offered Woods, and Woods took to X and social media to announce the offer back on May 4.
Roughly two weeks later Woods was offered by McPherson College. Woods is currently a recruit who may see his status rise in the coming months big time.
Even though he is a legit prospect as a linebacker and running back, Woods immediately indicated that he is a running back at the next level. When asked what MT sees him as, he simply says “Running back.” Woods said that he is a playmaker who can make plays inside and outside of the tackles, toting the rock.
He simply said that he is an “Elusive, bruiser.”
We have noted in previous articles that when it comes to running back prospect, that Al Poree, the running backs coach, is the one spearheading the recruitment. Woods indicated that Poree has been handling his recruitment.
“He is very chill and easy to connect with,” Woods said.
Woods went on to divulge that outside of his MTSU offer, he is hearing from other programs.
He said he is hearing from “A few others on all levels of D1 and NAIA.”
Woods said that he is keeping an open mind in his recruitment and that none of the schools, whether they officially offered yet or not, are standing out.
“All the schools I talk to are even as of now,” he said.
Woods mentioned that he does not have a visit to MTSU on the books, but that may change.
When questioned whether he had a visit planned to MT, he said: “Not at the moment, but I’d love to.”
