Target Talk: Elijah Long
Matt Dossett goes under the hood with 2028 target Elijah Long!
We are approaching the Summer months and recruiting is on and in full swing. The MT staff is scouring the region and the nation in search of quality high school prospects. Yes, at this point in time, the 2027 class is the headliner and the focal point for college programs. It is worth mentioning that the Blue Raider staff is keeping irons in the fire for the 2028 class.
Simply put, recruiting never sleeps and the 2028 class is being emphasized by the staff. An offer was recently dished out to athlete and prospect Elijah Long. Long attends Dalton High School, which is located in Dalton, Georgia.
Long divulged to me that he plays the “Mike” middle linebacker position for Dalton and MTSU is recruiting him as an inside backer.
Long has been offered by the likes of: MTSU, Miami of Ohio, Arkansas State, Memphis, Troy, Kennesaw State, and Samford.
Last season Long accumulated 70 tackles, 51 of those solo and 19 of those assisted. He had two tackles for loss, and 6.4 tackles a game. He also had three rushing touchdowns.
Long told me that he has been recruited by A.J. Reisig, the coach who also offered him.
“Coach A.J. offered me,” Long said.
“AJ is an amazing coach, he talks to you, he communicates with you and has great hospitality.”
Long indicated that he was somewhat broadsided by the offer.
“No, I didn’t see the offer coming,” he said.
“It was a great surprise for me and my action i was very happy and excited.”
Long confirmed that he has been offered by MT, Troy, Arkansas State, Kennesaw State, Samford, Memphis, and Miami of Ohio.
Long mentioned that he doesn’t know who will join the fray and offer but he is hoping to get more offers.
“I really have no idea but i hope to get more offers soon,” he said.
Long went on the say that he will take visits to games this fall but has no plans set in stone at the moment.
“Yes, I do plan to visit more schools,” Long said.
Long is currently at a height over six-feet tall and weighs around the 215 mark.
