GoMiddle Publisher Matt Dossett spoke to hoops transfer target Karris Bilal!
It is going to be intriguing to see the composition of the MTSU basketball roster for the 2026 season. There will certainly be some new faces and a new cast of characters. Head man Nick McDevitt and the MTSU staff are currently shooting their shot with Karris Bilal. Bilal redshirted at Vanderbilt last season and was previously at Louisiana where he averaged five points and two boards a game.
Bilal was recently on a visit to Murfreesboro and the Middle Tennessee State campus. GoMiddle’s very own Shayne Pickering mentioned in X that Bilal was indeed in town on a recruiting visit to MTSU.
Bilal told me that he definitely enjoyed his visit to the Middle Tennessee State campus and the Murfreesboro area.
“My visit was great,” he said.
“I visited the stadium, where the basketball athletes live, the new facility and all the other academic buildings.”
Bilal said that he was genuinely impressed with the bells and whistles on the campus.
“I was really impressed with the new facility and weight room,” he said.
Bilal said that there are two primary coaches who have been spearheading his recruitment.
“Coach Harris and Bone spearheaded my recruitment at Middle,” Bilal said.
“I really like how much they knew about my game and how they think my talent can help the team win.”
Bilal indicated that he has liked what he’s seen from Nick McDevitt. “I also liked how coach McDevitt was really easy to talk with and the vision of how I would fit in with their style of play, which he broke down in detail in the film room.”
Bilal said that he is currently in the process of whittling down his list of schools, and that It will be a thorough process.
“I’ve worked with my agent and parents to narrow my choices to three schools that I feel would be the best opportunity and pray that by the first eek of June I will select the right school for my next home,” he said.
“I’m super eager for the season to start!”
