Target Talk: TJ Williamson
Matt Dossett went under the hood with 2028 prospect TJ Williamson!
Recruiting in college athletics is a constant cycle, that never quits and never sleeps. Yes, the class of 2027 is more of a priority for the Middle Tennessee State staff, but the staff is also zeroing in on prospects for the class of 2028. One 2028 guy in the crosshairs of the MTSU staff is athlete TJ Williamson out of Florida. Williamson garnered an offer from the Blue Raiders recently, and he took to X on May 27, announcing his offer.
Outside of his offer from the Blue Raiders, Williamson has offers from: Temple, Syracuse, FSU, South Carolina, Memphis, UCF, Arkansas State, Toledo, Sacramento State, and Bethune Cookman.
His most recent offer was from Middle Tennessee State. Temple also offered the same week. Syracuse, FSU, South Carolina, Memphis, UCF, Arkansas State, Toledo, Sacramento State and St. Bethune offered in 2025.
Williamson is currently listed at 5’9 and 175 pounds. When it comes to what he has played for his high school, Williamson noted that he is a jack-of-all trades.
“I play running back, wide receiver and DB,” Williamson said.
“MT is recruiting me as an athlete.”
Williamson detailed his overall game and what makes him so dynamic.
“If I had to describe my game, I would say I’m an offensive weapon,” Williamson said.
“I’m explosive with the ball out in space. I can run in between the tackles and defensively I can cover guys and I like to tackle.”
Williamson said that Coach Tyler Monaco offered him.
“He’s a great guy,” he said.
“Someone I would love to be coached by.”
Williamson said that he did see the offer coming, but was nonetheless grateful to get the offer.
“I was kind of expecting it,” he said.
I just didn’t know when, but it was a great feeling to get the offer. Any time I’m offered, it is a blessing,” he said.
“Always thankful for these opportunities. I was very excited, two of my old teammates from park ball are freshmen at MT, so the opportunity to possibly play with them again was a good feeling.”
Williamson mentioned that there is not much separation between the schools recruiting him.
“Right now everyone is kind of recruiting me at the same pace at the moment,” he said.
When it comes to upcoming visits, he said “I have a few visits coming up. I’m not sure of the exact dates, yet. Actually working on that this weekend. Planning to get up to MT soon!”
Williamson said that he was hampered in 2025 but he is full go now.
“I only played in four games last year due to injury,” he said.
“But I’m healthy now and I had a really good spring game. I’m ready to grind all Summer and have a big junior season!”
